Return to this beautiful museum! Started the trip with a docent taking us on a guided tour to selected artworks on viewpoints of America. First stop was Rosie the Riveter by Norman Rockwell. After, we ate a delicious lunch, then my group ran through the galleries, took a trip outside on the trails, back inside for treats in the Cafe, and finished in the museum gift shop. Students throughly enjoyed the experience.
I teach students about art, creativity, and visual problem solving at Carthage Junior High. My wife is also an art teacher, and my three kids are all into their own arts, music, drama, imaginary unicorn development!

Drawing field trips begin
Carthage Junior high students have practices lots of drawing skills. They have learned about contour line drawing, positive and negative space, and bow to use a pencil for sighting. We walked the 3 blocks to our wonderful Carthage square and started drawing the Jasper County Courthouse. Built in 1894, this Route 66 landmark is a popular destination for tourists. A light mist and 60 degrees won't hold us back!
