F4our portraits!

Per Request of Melissa at  http://www.thechocolatemuffintree.com/ I am including a brief description of how we accomplished this cool project.

I started by taking a photo of the students using my IPhone, with a free app called iMajiCam.  It has all sorts of filters.  We used the Posterize filter.  Plug it into the computer, download, print off a copy for each student.  I take the pile, and photocopy it once, to have a backup. Then the students take a blank sheet, with their face underneath, and trace the lines where a value touches another value. You get a result similar to a paint by number.  That gets photocopied 4 times, and we do the work on the photocopies of their drawing.  1. Monochromatic in acrylic. 2. Stippling.  3. Fauvism.  4. collage.
When finished, you tape them together on the back and display!  Hope this helps!Finished our four portraits.  They sorta look like A Warhol.  they are Monochromatic paint, Stippling with marker, Fauvist with gel pens, and collage from magazines.  YummY!

stippling

Stippling is hard!  Espically Dark values.  Black and light are easy, but successful dark takes time.  These students used markers and their drawing of their posterized digital photo to make these awesome pointilist artworks!  Simple line designs in the back spice things up.
